Fathers And Sons

"Mom, is it the Fathers and Sons day yet?"

I've heard this question every morning at about 6:00 this past week. To say my boys were a little excited about the weekends events would be an absurd understatement. They have been ecstatically awaiting Friday night when they with dad would load up the car, and together live in the wild for a night.

Friday did finally come. As the boys were getting ready to go, Will told me not to worry to much; that they would be back in one day, and then handed me a dandelion (a moms favorite flower) and told me that this was so I would remember him while he was gone. It worked, I didn't forget about him.

So now my boy scouts are home. Judging by the strong smoke smell, dirt caked on faces, and tired eyes, I'm pretty sure they had fun. Here are some pictures to remember the event.

Will told me that they played "tug- a -rope" and he pulled real hard and then they won a couple. What a strong boy.

Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

A few days ago a friend said to me,

"Your boys just can't help but get dirty."
"Oh."

If she meant that they are full of life, curiosity, adventure, and fun. Who love to explore, play and have two of the most imaginative imaginations ever given to man;
then I would have to agree with her.

If she meant that no matter where we go, my boys gravitate to the dirt pile, mud, and obvious mess waiting to happen.......
then I would have to agree with her too.

Come on, girl I have boys!

And until we have a need to buy pink, I think the scale of messy adventures waiting to be experienced will increase exponentially.

I'm OK with that.

How I love my little boys, and how I love the water hose for quick clean ups.

FEARLESS!

Will is 4 and fearless.

Sometimes this is good, sometimes this is bad.

Yesterday night, however, Fearlessness was good.

We've dusted off the bicycles and Will has loved riding around our loop. His training wheels were continually getting bent and twisted, due to a few crashes here and there. We've wondered how much he has really been using them lately anyway. So last night Mike took them off.

Apparently, Will hadn't been using them at all.

The moment they were gone Will jumped on his bike and rode off. No help whatsoever. I didn't even have time to get my camera for the maiden voyage. So here are a few pics of the consecutive trips around and around. He is one happy kid and we are some impressed parents.

Yea for Will!

Oh Redbud Tree, Oh Redbud Tree!

I love Kansas.

I love it perhaps the most in the Spring.

Why, well because there is beauty all around. Blossoms popping left and right. It smells delicious, the days are pleasently warm, not too hot and humid. Currently the Redbud trees are in full glory. I don't know why they are called Redbuds, because they have glorious purple blossoms. AHHH! What a majestic beauty they are. We better, breath in the fresh air and enjoy this time before the bugs are out and the weather is hot!

Mutsi and Papa on the Konza Prairie

It's always fun for everyone when Mutsi comes! And Papa too!

I believe we might be SPOILED.

How's that?...

Well, our kids have, hands down, the most fantastic grandparents in the world. In less than a month both sets came to visit us. Yea! However, we sadly just bid Mutsi and Papa goodby. They came to see us last Saturday sporting a convertible and bringing with them fun, fun and more fun. We hiked the beautiful Konza prairie, ate at our Favorite TOTO's Tacoz, played at Gymnastics plus, barbecued at the park, celebrated a birthday or two and just loved looking at them here at our house. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for coming.

After standing on the couch looking anxiously outside the window for Musti and Papa all day long, they finally came. Here are the boys and their anticipated favorite people.

What a fantastic way to drive to church.
