Mawgs and Pops, We LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

Well yesterday, we bid my wonderful mom and dad goodbye. Mawga and Pops, two of our most favorite people in the entire universe came to visit us! We love visitors! They spoiled us rotten, gave us an extreme pampering, let us sleep in, fed us delicious food, filled my pantry, did my laundry, told the boys lots of great stories (fly away Jack, Fly away Jill, thanks Dad) and played and played and played. The world just seems brighter when your mom and dad are taking care of you. I miss them so much. We had a great time.

Mike's Spring Break was a couple of weeks ago, we thought we would be adventurous and go to Kansas City and see what the big city had to offer. (more info on that later) Well, we planned to come home Thursday afternoon, clean the house up, and anticipate the arrival of Mawgs and Pops Friday morning. Well, to our utter joy, about 20 minutes after arriving home ourselves, Will ran to the door shouting,"It's Pops and Mawga." And yes, they suprised us a day early. The weather forecast across Wyoming, was looking a little daunting on Thursday, so being the extremely spontaneous people my parents are (yuck, yuck) they decided to beat the weather and leave Wednesday afternoon instead. Of course, we being the techno savvy people we are, didn't have our cell phone charged while we were in K.C. so they couldn't get ahold of us, but I loooooove surprises and this one was the best!

Here's some pictures from the week, Mom you are now online too! Watch out.

Our New Favorite Pastime!

Drawing on faces with chalk, marker, cheese, dirt, etc... seems to be our new favorite pastime. Here are two more aboriginal portraits of my sons. As parents should we stop this behavior, or would that be stiffling their little creative juices? For now, however, I just think these two little boys are the cutest kids ever, regardless of whatever medium they prefer. Enjoy!

Tuff, Tuff, Tuff

Yes, I live with boys.

Wrestling,

Tackling,

Running,

Grabbing,

Jumping,

Punching (we try to keep this at a minimum)

It's A Packaged Deal.

This morning my boys were doing just those things. In the 6.9 seconds I left to run something downstairs, Will, had a burst of creativity. He thought that in order to really be the football players they were pretending to be, they needed to look the part. Thus, the under-eye, glare-reducing marks on their faces. Isaac, was a most willing participant. They thought they looked so tuff and cool. I thought it was sooo cool that the marker was washable. Life is good!

Of This and That

This blogging thing is fun. In just one night, we have written 3 posts. Well hang on people, we have only been married 6 1/2 years so this can't take too long. Right? Anyway, last Saturday we drove up to the Winter Quarters Temple. It being a 3 1/2 hour drive, required us to leave a little early in order to make it to our 10:00 am session. On the way up nature gave us a gorgeous sunrise, Kansas really is beautiful. Here is a picture from the road.
That Sunday night as we were getting the boys ready for bed, Isaac, with his enchanting, mesmerizing, long-lashed blue eyes, looked sincerely at me and said, "Mom, I want to make popcorn balls that smell so sweet." As parents I guess we sometimes go against our better judgment (did I say it was already 8:45) to please these cute kids of ours. So don't tell SRS, but we made sweet smelling candy popcorn. The boys (including dad) were a little too excited about the popcorn, and we never did make them into balls, none-the-less, we enjoyed a Sunday night treat at 9:00 pm.

Eight Seconds

At our place, there is a Dad, a Mom, and two Cowboys. Yes, here at the Anderson Ranch, life is better if you are wearing cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and roping something (even if that something happens to be your younger brother). The couch arms double nicely as horses and one would be amazed at the number of stray cattle we have roaming the living room at night. So two Friday's ago we rounded up our clan and took them to the wild K-State Collegiate Rodeo. Yeehaw! We were lucky enough to even get front row seats. Once the bull riding began, we asked ourselves, is this an appropriate activity for toddlers? Dad thought it was especially unsportsmanlike to hog tie a pygmy goat tethered to a stake in the middle of the arena, but hey, he's just a stats guy, what does he know...At any rate no one went to the hospital, the animals were safe, the cowboys kept their hats on and we had two very inspired cowboys to put to bed that night.

A Spicy Saturday Night Date!

So here we are, just the two of us, sitting on the couch starring dreamily into... the computer monitor. Yes, for our hot date tonight we are creating a family blog (hey, a date's a date and this one has turned out to be quite fun and comical). Sometimes, it takes us Kansans just a bit longer to catch up with the rest of the civilized world. However, late or not, we thought this would be a fun way to memorialize our family's wild adventures. So fasten your seat belts ... the Anderson family is online.
