Goundhogs, Teeth, and More

What have we been up to this month well lets see....

We went to the annual K-State Collegiate Rodeo. This is always a blast and better yet, this year we got free tickets! Thanks You Rowley's! As always this event is exhilarating to the boys. They come away certain of what they want to be when they grow up (bronc riders of course) and they come away determined to practice their trade. We've had ongoing bronc riding in our basement since.

Perhaps the most exciting news this month, is that Will lost his first tooth. Way to go Will! Yes it happened, I thought it was a little early, but to my surprise a big permanent tooth is pushing it's way up. How could my baby possibly be loosing teeth already? This experience left Will extremely proud, Mike obsessive compulsive, Isaac in awe of his older brother, and Mom feeling old.
This tooth has been wiggly for quite some time, and has been driving Mike nuts. A few days before it was liberated, Mike came upstairs with a small pair of pliers, ready for the extraction. Now maybe this is how some people pull teeth, but in my opinion I didn't want my son's first experience at loosing his teeth to be one of horror and fear. It was a little too barbaric for me. After much coaxing, Mike turned around to take the pliers back downstairs. Will, with big eyes said, "Mom, that was a close call!" I had to agree. A few days latter, on Sunday evening, with a little wiggle help from dad (he couldn't leave it alone) out came the tooth.

So what is the going rate for the Tooth Fairy these days anyway?

Will was pretty excited to put that tooth under his pillow, so excited that he was up with Ike at 2:00 a.m. seeing if there was anything under there yet.

We also took a trip to Omaha to go to the temple. We figure we might not have too many more opportunities for a while after this baby arrives. Our boys love these temple trips, mainly because they involve jumping on the hotel beds and swimming in the hotel pool. Mike and I were able to get into sessions Thursday night. Friday we swam in the hotel pool, jumped on the beds some more, and then, this time around, because it was a rather nice day, we decided to go to the zoo.

The Henry Doorly Zoo is a good one. We had fun singing with the orangutans.

We were in awe of the sharks, and glad we were on the other side of the glass.

This month we also got into Groundhog Day. I have to admit we have never really celebrated it in all its glory before. However, the boys' cousin Hyrum loves this day, it is his after Christmas "happy thought", so we decided in honor of him and Puxatony Phil we better put more effort into it. Here are our homegrown Groundhogs. We've been noticing our shadows a lot more now too. Thanks H for the inspiration.
