Mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend, cook, laundress, total genius, (I know, I know). Perhaps the thing I am most thrilled with, is the fact that I married the EPITOME! Together we have four amazing little boys, who crack us up daily.
2010 Will and Ike's new phrase when they are about to tell us something very funny, "Mom, this will crack your giblets out!"
5/10 Isaac woke up early and was helping me make pancakes. He got the eggs out of the fridge. It was a full carton and I said, "Be careful Ike." He replied, "Mom, I'm as careful as a Cow!"
2/10 While eating dinner, Mike and I noticed that Ike spit out a half chewed tomato piece that came from his macaroni salad. Mike said, "So Ike, I guess you didn't like that." Isaac's replay, "No, I thought it was gum." Isaac loves gum, what a disappointment. Tomatoe?
1/10 While outside playing and pouring cups of water on the ground (this is a fun activity) Ike said, "Hey Will, watch out for my boots, they're the love of my life!"
8/29 Ike asked Mike today after he was riding his bike so fast down the sidewalk, "Dad, was I a blur?"
7/3/09 Will was hitting Ike on the top of the head today as fast as he could, both boys were laughing for a minute and then Ike asked Will to stop. Will responded, "oh I'm sorry Ike, that's just how you say good luck in sign language."
6/27/09 Will really wanted to go get a toy at the store. We reminded him of his cool new guitar he spent his hard earned 5 bucks on. He was sadly out of money. Ike's solution, "well I think Will could maybe use Dad's bucks at Walmart." Really don't you think Wally-World gets too many of our bucks already?
6/27/09 Will after spending his hard earned $5.00 at a garage sale, "Dad, it's an exciting day!"
6/09 Today Will asked Mike how old he will be on his birthday that is fast approaching. When Mike replied 32, Will responded, "Wow, I guess you'll have to use a cane now Dad."Doesn't Will know that 32 is the new 16.
6/09 Isaac told me while holding Jake today. "Look Mom, I have the Magic Touch!" Yes you do Ike.
5/1/09 Mike asked the boys,"what should we eat during Fathers and Sons?" Both boys replied with a crazy look in their eye."Dad, lets go hunt a dear and eat IT!"
Our boys have never been hunting in their lives. Somehow, though this calls to the Y Chromosome that is abundant at our house.
4/27/09 Today was a wild and crazy day. My boys were out to prove that you can turn a mother gray in one afternoon. Part of their crazyness is the fact that my B-day is tomorrow. Finally in frustration I told the boys that the only thing I wanted for my B-day was for them to settle down and try obeying the first time. Later that evening when Mike was herding the monkeys into the family room for FHE, he said, "You guys you need to obey and settle down." Ike looked at Mike and said, "but Dad it's not even Mom's birthday yet."
3/09 Sunday we were taking a family walk. Will kept on yelling towards the buildings we past. Mike asked him what he was doing. Will's response, "I'm just talking to the echo man. Who is the echo man anyway dad?"
2/09 Ike and Mom were playing "Farm Animals" downstairs. Ike's horse asked Mom's sheep if it had eyes, ears, a bum, feet, and a tummy. Mom's sheep replied that it did have all those things and asked so what is a tummy for anyway? Ike's response after a moment or two of contemplation, "Well Mom, a tummy is for being rubbed."This kid loves a good back and tummy rub anytime.
1/25/09 Will and Ike were anxiously waiting for Mike to finish the dishes so he could go downstairs and play basketball with them. After what seemed like a million years to a 5 year old boy, Will called up, "Dad, can you see the bottom of the sink yet?"
Isaac is good at reminding us daily of things we were going to do, but didn't get around to . Yesterday in ultimate exasperation he said,"Mom, we forgot to go to Sea World!"
Will recently bumped his tooth hard. Hard enough that it became a little wiggly. After the initial shock was past and things were under control, he started to get a little teary again and said, "Mom, with a wiggly tooth, I just don't feel normal anymore."Poor child.
Mike took the boys Christmas shopping a few days before Christmas. With all the secrecy involved when they got home, I figured I was going to be the reciepeint of some fun things. Christmas Eve, Mike and the boys were upstairs being sneaky. Ike came down holding a little package all taped up. He said,"Mom, you can't open this yet, and I can't tell you what it is. It's a secret! But tomorrow you can open it up." and then he droped his voice to a whisper and added, "and when you do it will be nail polish!"
I took the boys to get their pictures taken in their cute K-State Jersey's Mutsi sent them. We thought it would be fun to give one to Mike for Christmas. The day we picked it up, wraped it and put it under the tree was pretty exciting for the boys. When Mike got home Will told him that we had gotten him a present and it was under the tree. Mike asked what it was and Will said, "Dad you know I can't tell you, but I will give you a clue. It's something picturey maybe like this."He said pointing the the Jersey he just happened to be wearing that day. I wonder if Mike was surprised Christmas morning.
